TTS Galacticos CC Ruff Royals

4-45 from Westerveld was very useful. We managed to get ourselves out of trouble with the batting after being 46-4. House scored 62 and Gilbert 43 not out. Westerveld also scored 27 not out.

16 points clear of relegation but 8 points off top spots so I think the season is basically over.

K. Darke (rfs) 3-0-15-0, B. Issa 7 (14b), F. Best 24 (39b)
End of over 25 (2 runs) - Ruff Royals(120-3) RR 4.80

Dry pitch and we decided to bat first. I think that's an okay start but we need to make sure we've got wickets in hand so we can't afford to lose wickets now.

won the toss and had a bat on cloudy/uneven. Always find uneven quite random, sometimes 150 can be plenty, other times near 300 can be chased with ease. Anyway we've managed 245/5 in our 50, captain Dann ending unbeaten on 99! A great recovery from 33/3 early on, and hopefully it will be enough, but just never know!

C. House (lfs) 10-0-32-0, F. Hills 56 (54b), D. Bonnor 0 (5b)
End of over 50 (1 run) - wolfberries(205-9) RR 4.10

Despite our no11 being a twat and not getting any runs from the last 5 balls of the innings, it's not the worst total.

We lost a wicket just after my last post but we did get to a decent score in the end.

K. Darke (rfs) 10-0-63-0, S. Hodges 54 (46b), A. Clarke 63 (67b)
End of over 50 (18 runs) - Ruff Royals(272-5) RR 5.44

I'm happy with that although it's by no means a foregone conclusion. Some decent scores by my batters for a change: 63 not out for Clarke, 57 for Best, 54 not out for allrounder Hodges, and 41 for McCall.

M. Roberson (lf) 4-0-20-0, S. Brabon 11 (20b), R. Boag 19 (23b)
End of over 7 (9 runs) - gRhyllidae(33-0). 240 runs required from 43 overs. RR 4.71 RRR 5.58

We could do with some wickets to ease my nerves. Spinners should be on soon which may or may not help.

End of over 21 (5 runs) - gRhyllidae(92-1). 181 runs required from 29 overs. RR 4.38 RRR 6.24

We just got a wicket! :dance

Many more needed; really we could do with them collapsing a bit.

C. Moses (rws) 5-0-26-1, S. Brabon 56 (82b), M. Shabbir 7 (11b)
End of over 25 (12 runs) - gRhyllidae(118-1). 155 runs required from 25 overs. RR 4.72 RRR 6.20

I think the next few overs could be crucial. We were 120-3 at the same stage. We need Brabon out just after the break and then we need to start picking up their wickets on a regular basis if we are to have any chance of winning.

Well that's really fucked us today! If we are losing to this CENSORED, then we could be facing relegation!

some decent middle order resistance from the opps, but in the end a fairly comfortable victory.

Danger Hotspurs South London's Number One CC
Batting - Top Order 12,621 13,483

Bowling - Seam 13,045 (40) 11,763 (40)
Bowling - Spin 12,273 (10) 13,991 (10)
Fielding/Keeping 16,008 16,417
Overall 216,114 226,499

result: Won by 46 runs. A very solid performance all round, the big disappointment was that Dann was left stranded on 99 not out and couldn't pick up his first senior ton. Other than that a good day at the office, and a bit of breathing space above the bottom two at the halfway stage of the season.

Overall 228,318 219,129

Ruff Royals won by 86 runs

It was comfortable in the end after their batters at number 1 and 2 were dismissed. Moses took those key wickets and finished with 3-35 although Callaway had the best figures with 3-25. 8 points clear of the relegation places now but we still need 2 or 3 wins.

Classic Dry wicket game - no benefit for the spinners evident, Despite half the overs being bowled by spinners, they only took 3 of the 17 wickets to fall, and the team with more and better spinners loses.

Knew I should have selected a crumbling wicket instead!

Can't disagree with that. Up until around 10-mins before orders locked I had my $5k wristie in the line-up, but bottled it and went for a 3rd seamer. When said seamer takes 2 wickets in the innings opening 3 balls I knew I had a massive chance to win. He ultimately took 33-4.

Not much in the spin ratings though...

Looks like I have another dry this Friday which is a real pain...
