Yeah, good game. Well done; it looks like you're pretty much safe now (perhaps 1 more win to be certain).montyh wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 12:24 pmThanks spark, good game. All the best for the rest of the seasonspark wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 12:13 pmEgham Town CC won by 11 runs

Not quite good enough today. Gilbert made a nice 52 from 40 balls but we gave ourselves just a little too much to do. Only 2 points clear of the relegation zone now.

Crumbling pitch and we bowled first. It didn't look a great decision when they hadn't lost a wicket after getting 60+ runs but we were keeping the run rate down. The bowling late on was great though and we did end up with 7 wickets and needed 108 to win.
Clarke was the star with the bat as he hit 45 runs and Best scored 38 as their 81-run partnership saw us close to the finish line. We ended up winning with 2 overs to spare.
Sadly, despite the win, we are still only 4 points clear of the relegation zone.

This was helpful from my perspective! Still feels Dave’s lads are a level above and with their NRR advantage may be tough to stay top, but we’ll give it a try!casperj wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:10 pmCrestfallen Sidekicks Danger Hotspurs

We lost the toss so are bowling first. I'm safe from relegation so that allows me to put in some players in need of experience. The difficulty with that is that I don't really want to replace any of my americans or players I'm thinking of keeping long term so that doesn't leave many options. I ended up only making a couple of changes only one of which really reduced the quality of my team (in batting).
B. Gardiner (rws) 2-0-3-0, J. Easton 6 (17b), D. Tumilty 10 (17b)
End of over 11 (1 run) - wolfberries(42-2) RR 3.82
A decent start but there might be the beginnings of a good partnership developing.

That partnership didn't happen after it was stopped by 2 wickets from Gardiner. Easton still in though.

I think that's a very good bowling performance. Now it's time to see how my very slightly weaker batting line-up than normal do.

It's looking very much like it as it would have needed 3 or 4 early wickets to fall to put us in trouble.

well this is pretty worrying, against 170K rated gRhyllidae ... having a bowl on uneven/windy and opps 137/3 off 33. We've rotated a little today, but thought we would easily have enough. Looking like an uphill battle for us to avoid a major upset at this point.

well a decent recovery to get opps all out for 188, but it's still a difficult target on uneven especially with a very inexperienced middle order. Should have enough, but you just never know!

A. Idroos (rfm) 10-0-69-1, L. Cush 16 (12b), A. Miandad 47 (43b)
End of over 50 (17 runs) - Gully Boys CC(249-7) RR 4.98
Too many to chase on a dry wicket. Poor fielding again the problem 3 missed chances and 2 misfields in 2 overs changes the course of the innings...
40.4 . Andersen to Miandad : [missed stumping] Wonderful flight from Andersen deceives the batsman who is drawn forward and the ball passes the outside edge. Crossan fumbles behind the stumps and Miandad scrambles back and survives.
39.5 2 Harvey to Miandad : [misfield] A bit wide outside off, Miandad opens the face to steer it to third man where a misfield from Owen allows the batsmen an extra run.
38.6 . Andersen to Shah : [dropped] I can't believe it's not butter on Amirthalingam's fingers. That was a simple catch and Amirthalingam grassed it. Andersen doesn't look very impressed.
38.4 . Andersen to Shah : [dropped] Andersen takes a bit of pace off that delivery as Shah walks across his stumps to swipe it over square leg. He's got under it alright and it hangs in the air as Owen runs around, but the ball has gone through his hands and falconed him. Miandad and Crossan can't contain their amusement and neither can we.
38.1 1 Andersen to Miandad : [misfield] Rookie error, that's straight through his legs for 1. Veneberg gets back to tidy up but Andersen looks far from happy.
