Didn't even get that close in the end. Playing more spinners on a Crumbling wicket didn't seem to help much.

Needed to win to stay up, and fortunately we managed it. Lost the toss on Hard/Sunny was put into bat. Riedewald was the star of the show with an unbeaten 105 in our 201/4, and in response Danger Hotspurs always seemed to struggle with the rate required despite some decent middle order resistance. In the end a 24 run win and another season at this level.

40 runs from McCall and 34 not out from Best saw us to the win with a couple of balls to spare. It means we finish 2nd and secure ourselves a decent amount of prizemoney.

Today was a tidy victory which helped secure a completely unexpected promotion to Division 1! A big challenge on Thursday to stay in Division 1 YOD, but if we can manage it we'll have 3/4 sides in Division 1 next season.

In any case, this promotion (and the prizemoney & gate receipts) could be well timed to help push my developing seniors to Div1 OD too. Time to push on...

Congratulations and commiserations to all as end of season positions are settled,
Montyh

Eight wickets for our opponents seam attack in Dry and Sunny conditions, we lost 7 wickets for 44 runs  Well that pitch selection didn't work , and cost us 4th place! If this continues this week we will be getting very little prize money!

That's pretty much classic dry wicket behaviour - team with 1 spinner beats similarly rated team with 4 spinners! :?

On tuesday my senior side got relegated with 6 wins and a positive NRR.
Today my Youth team somehow stay up with only 4 wins and a heavily negative NRR!

And our stay in YOD Div 1 has come to an end...such a shame. Will be tough to get back out of Div 2 but we'll give it a go!

A nice win to finish off the youth season. Jupp hit 68, there was a rapid 30 not out for Mark Patterson and 28 not out for Westerveld. Patterson also took 3-24. We were already guaranteed a 2nd place finish and we ended up with 44 points which is just the 12 points off top spot!

Schneider gets another game as an allrounder and Clarke gets the chance to play as keeper again as he pretty much moves to being my regular keeper. Whitehead captains again and takes the batting spot of Best.

It's a game where a bit of luck and a fairly big win could see us move to 3rd. If it goes badly we could finish in 6th.

It's not going badly at all and we really should be getting a big win here. Massey picks up some late wickets to end with 4-13 and Moses gets 3-15.

survived a hell of a scare to sneak home with a three wicket win and secure third place. Looked like we were heading for defeat at one stage, but fortunately Dann played a captain's knock to see us home with a very patient unbeaten 62 from 126 balls.

Definitely need to strengthen over pre-season, no chance of doing well at this level with only 12 senior players  Think we could be in for a tough season unless we can unearth a few bargains on the transfer list, but we'll see ...

So I started the season by being 4 minutes late on setting my team for the MKMC so that's not helped fatigue! At least the league season got off to a good start.

Ruff Royals won by 23 runs

Egham Town CC Ruff Royals
Batting - Top Order 6,362 7,407
Batting - Middle Order 6,666 6,460

Bowling - Spin 7,848 (12) 8,457 (12)
Fielding/Keeping 8,898 9,393
Overall 127,888 137,672

Dickerson (40) and House (38) saw us start well against Egham Town on a slow pitch but then we scored less than 20 in the last 5 overs to leave them a very chaseable 119 to win.

Thankfully, the bowlers did a good job. Westerveld (3-11) was the best of the bunch but Bardoliya (2-17) also performed on his debut which will also be his last in the YT20 game.
