C. Philp (rm) 6-0-22-1, S. Obuya 8 (15b), L. Durham 32 (46b)
End of over 20 (8 runs) - Ruff Royals(87-2) RR 4.35

A slow pitch but this feels a little too slow in terms of run rate.

End of over 40 (6 runs) - Ruff Royals(213-6) RR 5.33

A decent score. 44 for Durham, 44 for Bennett, and 39 not out for Ames.

T. Ames (rm) 3-0-14-0, B. van der Vyver 19 (43b), I. Khozo 23 (28b)
End of over 13 (9 runs) - Staindrop Lordies(44-1). 170 runs required from 27 overs. RR 3.38 RRR 6.30

Okay so far but I'd like more wickets.

Ruff Royals won by 38 runs

Staindrop Lordies Ruff Royals
Batting - Top Order 7,661 7,845
Batting - Middle Order 6,193 7,178
Batting - Tail 3,593 5,026
Bowling - Seam 7,269 (26) 7,014 (32)
Bowling - Spin 8,366 (14) 7,944 (8)
Fielding/Keeping 9,196 9,072
Overall 132,054 138,388

A good win in the end. The run rate pressure eventually told after they were 91-1 as they were then all out for 175. We're still 4 points clear at the top.

It'll be interesting to see how many call-ups we get for internationals with 3 players in national squads. Those call-ups could be the difference between winning the title or not.

Finally, an example of the tactics actually having some effect! Beat a higher rated team who dind't have a spinner on a windy/dry.

It's possibly a touch early to accept that I'm probably going to get relegated but I've decided to prioritise the cup this week. I've got a tough match there so could be knocked out anyway. I've picked a much weakened team for today.

M. Patterson (rfs) 5-0-26-0, C. Paton 5 (13b), J. Garcia 46 (50b)
End of over 24 (2 runs) - Egham Town CC(116-4) RR 4.83

It's a hard pitch so I'm surprised we've picked up 4 wickets so far. I still don't expect to win but it would be nice to take some positives from the game.

Don't have much experience on Even wickets, but do not have much confidence in my batting line up making much over 200 on any surface, so concerned this could be another loss.

R. Drake (rm) 10-0-55-3, R. Morgan 12 (19b), F. Doyle 5 (9b)
End of over 50 (5 runs) - Gold Prospectors X1(235-7) RR 4.70

In my experience (sample size of 1 youth game), even wickets are quite high scoring.

So it proved, although very reliant on my experienced opener, who finally made a significant contribution (149*) for the first time this season. Also helped by my opponent playing 3 wristies, including opening the bowling with one!!

Just waiting to see the fatigue damage before deciding on my line up for the cup

lost the toss and put in to bowl on sticky/overcast. Opps innings started well as they reached 65/1, but we clawed it back to 108/7. The tail did well however, and a final score of 147/10 felt about par, maybe a bit over par for the conditions. In reply we batted extremely patiently, and Zaha's 32 (87) set it up for Kouyate to come in and finish it off with a brisk 20* (17), to give us a four wicket win. A really good effort from the bats to chase down a tricky total against a strong bowling outfit.

Another close game where we've managed to come out on top, pretty much sums up the season so far. Four wins from four, but could easily have been four losses from four had one or two things gone differently. Tough game next week away at Danger Hotspurs, especially without Kouyate who's been called up for nat duties.

Batting - Middle Order 12,260 9,797
Batting - Tail 5,169 4,212
Bowling - Seam 14,444 (50) 10,615 (30)

Fielding/Keeping 17,536 14,700
Overall 239,839 200,602

Egham Town CC won by 120 runs

We played only 4 first team players so I'm not unhappy about those ratings.

Positives today: Mwai picked up 3 wickets and 56 for Laurence. That's about it. So not great.

We're 8 points from safety after only 4 games.
