104 not out from 58 balls for Laurence was the key to all 4 points today. The bowlers then kept things tight enough that the wickets started to fall regularly.

Off the mark with a win. The tweak to the match engine seems to have moved in favour of wickets - All 20 fell on an Overcast / Dry. Plus a decent debut for my new spinner: C. Jeremy (rfs) 3 1 6 4 !!!

Another loss - the oppo posted 134 off their twenty, and once again we failed miserably. At 89-2, with 46 runs needed off six overs, I'd have thought we were in with a shout, but 'twas not to be - wickets fell and my lot jettisoned their mojo; we limped to 123-7 as the fat lady belted out a classic.

Nice start to the YOD season but we lose our International spinner in two weeks which isn't going to help!

My rag-tag bunch of mediocre youths score a big ratings upset. Opponent didn't score quickly enough against a modest bowling attack, and then couldn't capitalise on the seam friendly conditions with the ball - feels like a mirror image of what usually happens to my senior team!

Goondiwindi vs The Raging Speed Horns
League Youth 2.1

Weather Overcast
Pitch Crumbling

Late to the table due to busy busy current lifestyle; in fact, will be on the road today, so the SOD match will be glimpsed intermittently on cellphone (although that'll be a guaranteed loss due to early phase rebuild powder puff team so bleugh).

Yesterdays game was a bit of a damp squib - Goondiwindi popped us in to bat and proceded to throttle us as we struggled our way to 164-8. Still, in reply by the 13th over, they were 47-3, and it looked like we had a game on our hands. Alas for us, their 4 nd 5 dug in to compile a century partnership and comfortably win it with a couple of overs to spare.

Result: Goondiwindi won by 6 wickets

Match Ratings
Goondiwindi The Raging Speed Horns
Batting - Top Order 7,325 6,711
Batting - Middle Order 5,883 6,783

Fielding/Keeping 9,306 9,654
Overall 128,462 133,205

Three losses in a row, and todays game will make that four. An inauspicious start to the season.

I'm happy to pick up a big win especially as our batting was looking slightly dodgy to start with. Laurence will be disappointed to miss out on his 2nd century of the week by just 10 runs. Mwai justified his inclusion with 58 from 52 balls and a wicket. Zondeki was best of our bowlers with 3-40.

Start the season with a win in a high scoring match. Two centuries in a 334/4 batting first, possibly helped by my opponent playing 3 spinners on a green top. Looked like they were going to chase it down at 287/5, but some tight overs and wickets at the end of the match got us home.

And so it did, as Pedagogs smashed us into the dirt on their way to a 9 wicket win.

Bozelli ground out a gritty 41 as we compiled 155-7, but, despite being a sticky, it was never enough, and got chased down with ease by the 37th over. That'll be us propping up 1.1 for the rest of the season :thumbsup

On a brighter note, today saw us bot-bashing Sofa Kings to march on to the 2nd round of the MKMC. Our route should be reasonably easy for the first two or three games thanks to last seasons rep, and we'll benefit from a nice boost in XP and revenue.

Sofa Kings - remember them? It's a shame the club history gets wiped when a team goes bot - I seem to recall they were quite the team way back when.

I had many a battle with them in the day, I'm sure the manager was called Daz or something thing similar, maybe :think

They chased the total down after 19.4 overs, so it was as one sided as it seems.

Something like "Dazzling Daz"? That name rings bells for me, but I'm at a funny age

Meanwhile, in T20 and YT20, we got our bottoms kicked again; I won't bother reporting the matches any more 'cos - I never used to, and the results are so random I can't emotionally invest in them (win or lose).

I'll continue to bore one and all with SOD (which we will also get obliterated at each week) and YOD reports though, so stay tuned...

Another crazy T20 wicket fest. Managed to bowl them out for 88 on a Sunny/Crumbling. My new finger spinner, who took 4/6 last week, let himself down this week by only taking 4/10!!! Decent start against their seamers removed any run rate pressure and we got home with plenty to spare.

Currently top based on a crazy NRR!!

Good to get a win under our belts after last weeks poor showing. Having won the toss and inserted the oppo in to bat, Delameter (LFM) managed to knock over their 1,2 and 4 batsmen in the space of 8 balls, so at the end of the 3rd over they were tottering at 8-3.The Destroyers mounted a mini-recovery to 43-3, at which point three more quick wickets fell to leave 'em at 48-6. Another recovery of sorts got them to 116-10, but with zero runs pressure, my mob knocked that off with ten overs and six wickets to spare.

YOD will be our one saving grace this season, and I reckon we've got a fair shot at promotion - on paper, we're the strongest team, although to be fair that's never a guarantee...
