Emirates Cricket League - Season 2
The Emirates Cricket League is back for it's second season, after a thrilling first season came to a dramatic end with a tied final, the stage has been set for season 2 to follow.
Inaugural champions Abu Dhabi Warriors, led by heppa, will be looking to defend their title after also topping the group stage and going unbeaten last time.
Similar to last season, this will be a franchise competition where franchises will play each other twice, home and away, in the group stage and the top 2 franchises will then contest the final.
Teams will be assigned an entire week to get their games done and each team captain or a designated representative has to post the links to fixtures in their respective forum threads.
Ex: Round 1 has to be played in FTP Week 4, Round 2 in FTP Week 6 and so on.
If teams have no free friendly slots then the match will be declared a draw.
Franchises have to play their matches by Sunday 23:59 FTP time, and games can be played any day of the week.
Ex: Round 1 is FTP Week 4, so all matches for this round have to be played by Sunday 23:59 FTP time.
Franchises are allowed to retain some or all of their teams from last season if they wish to do so.
A draft will be held for any remaining vacancies.
How the points system for franchises will work:
2 points will be awarded for a franchise win and 1 point for a franchise draw
For example, out of 5 matches between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, if Abu Dhabi win 3 and Dubai win 2, then the score will read as Abu Dhabi 3-2 Dubai.
Abu Dhabi gets 2 points in this case.
Individual wins and losses will also be recorded and used as a tie-breaker in case of a tie in the points table.
Competition format will be home-and-away (Each franchise plays the other, once at home and once away) with all 4 franchises playing each other once and the top 2 then contesting the final.
Winning franchise members will each be awarded either 1 month membership or 40 credits.
Rulings if teams cross the rating limits:
1: Team A vs Team B, If Team A wins but crosses the rating limit and Team B stays under the limit, then the result will be overturned and Team B will be declared the winner.
2: Team A vs Team B, If Team A wins and stays under the rating limit, and Team B goes over the rating limit and loses, then the result will stand.
3: If both teams cross the limit then the result will stand.
Home teams are responsible for sending the challenges to their opponents each week, and are HIGHLY recommended to do so in a timely manner each week.
If anyone exceeds their league match rating, then the result will be overturned regardless of the difference in match ratings between them and their opponent.
Example: Team A played Team B in the SOD 3 league. Team A won but they rated 206k while Team B rated 199k. Team B will get the win as Team A crossed the SOD 3 league limit of 200k.
Please sign-up using the following format:

2nd Preference for League
Approximate SOD and YOD Match Rating

Example:
Al Khobar Falcons
MOD-wmchamps
1st choice: Abu Taymulla
2nd choice: Rameez Shahzad

If you have 2 teams (main and affiliate), you can enter them both, BUT you have to pick ONE of them as the reserve team, as we will be having one team per manager participate, so your other team can only be entered as a reserve team.
ECL Management Team
1: Analyst (Writes the post-match reviews for each round) Speedy17
2: Match Referee (Checks the match ratings of the teams in the five leagues to see if anyone went over the rating limits and updates me accordingly) TDC
3: ECL Administrator (Sends the fixture list to all captains at the beginning of each week, for example, they will mail all captains the list for Round 1 on the first day of the week, and posts the final result for each fixture of each round in this thread) MrMoose
The main responsibilities of a captain are that they will be making sure that all of their teams have arranged their matches in each round, they or a representative creates a thread here in the forums for their franchise, and that they or a representative posts in the respective thread at least once a week or so.

Re: Emirates Cricket League - Season 2
ECL leagues have been named in honor of 5 of the UAE drought breakers, but the whole squad deserves recognition of delivering a first ever World Cup title for the Emirates in any format.
Courtesy of Speedy17 and PowerBug:
"We've decided to name the divisions around 5 instrumental moments from the World Cup win.
Senior 1: Abu Taymulla
The captain, the mainstay. With 55 Senior UAE appearances, including the UAE's only other WC final appearance. A redemption arc for a longtime servant of this team, Abu Taymulla lead his team to the ultimate goal.
Senior 2: Rayhan Ghayth
0.2WGhayth to Cascarino : [catch] T. Cascarino c R. Jabbar b. R. Ghayth 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR:0.00
0.3WGhayth to Kinsella : [catch] P. Kinsella c R. Jalil b. R. Ghayth 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR:0.00
0.4WGhayth to Daly : [catch]
That is a hattrick for Ghayth! Sensational bowling. The crowd erupts, Ghayth is in raptures.
R. Daly c R. Jabbar b. R. Ghayth 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR:0.00
Need I say more.
Did I mention he had the Windies 2-2 after the first over of the final
Senior 3: Rafiq Awad
With 3 overs to go in the final, a tense 19 runs still remained.
Enter Rafiq Awad, the keeper blasting 17 runs in 5 balls to put the trophy beyond doubt.
Youth 1: Rameez Shahzad
Day 1, the Aussies, a NAT debut, captaining the side, and opening the batting. The pressure was on Rameez Shahzad, who set the tone for the whole week with a blistering 83 (38). At one stage the scoreboard read:
End of over 6 (8 runs) - UAE(71-3) RR 11.83
R. Jalil 1 (1b), R. Shahzad 52 (22b), S. O'Donnell (lfm) 1-0-8-1
He went on to lead the tournament in runs, passing 50 in 3 of 4 innings, including another blistering opening knock in the semi-final, only overshadowed by...
Youth 2: Rahul Khaleel
Another debutant, Rahul Khaleel enjoyed a modest group stage with bat and gloves, but when his moment arrived he took it. Thrust to the top of the order for the semi final, he bludgeoned the South African bowlers to all parts, scoring 91 off just 44 balls, as part of an opening stand of 148 that propelled the side to a score of 227, that was never really threatened."
